Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university in business, healthcare, information technology, security, or a related field required
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment, particularly in a HIPAA, privacy, security, or audit/compliance-related role.
- Preferred certifications in areas of healthcare compliance, privacy, security, health information management, risk management assurance, internal auditing, and/or Epic Systems
- Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, along with auditing and monitoring principles
- Familiarity with HIPAA and other privacy-related regulations and their application in healthcare settings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure adherence to internal controls and policies
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and build professional relationships
- High degree of credibility, independence, integrity, confidentiality, and trust
- Capability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and make independent decisions
- Experience in researching, compiling, and analyzing regulatory and business information
- Commitment to inclusion and proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- May require occasional travel
Responsibilities
- Conduct reviews of organizational and functional activities to assess the effectiveness of IT security controls
- Perform regular audits and engage in special projects aimed at enhancing systems and diminishing organizational risks
- Assist in the creation of risk and threat matrices for tracking organizational risks and mitigation strategies
- Facilitate and support third-party audits and assessments, including HIPAA, Risk, DR, PCI, SOC2
- Aid in conducting security risk assessments for new and existing third-party vendors
- Work with various departments to implement process enhancements based on audit findings
- Utilize reporting tools to monitor and identify unusual user behaviors or security concerns
- Maintain and prepare necessary documentation and reports to support these activities
- Organize employee education, awareness, training, and testing initiatives related to security threats
- Actively seek knowledge of new, automated, or efficient auditing and monitoring techniques
- Help coordinate reviews of system documentation and compliance-related policies
- Undertake additional duties as necessary to support departmental goals and overall company objectives
