Requirements
Must:
- A minimum of 3 to 6 years of experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining on-premises and hosted solutions.
- Experience as a DevOps Engineer in a scalable production environment.
- Proficiency with DevOps processes and tools that support Agile application development teams, leading to continuous integration, testing, and deployment methodologies.
- Background in Kubernetes and management platforms like Rancher.
- Familiarity with Git version control and hosted platforms such as GitHub and Bitbucket.
- Experience with CI/CD software such as CircleCi and Jenkins.
- Knowledge of scripting languages including Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell, or PHP.
- Understanding of programming languages such as Java, Go, JavaScript, or C++.
- Acquaintance with common API endpoints like REST, GraphQL, or Soap.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to self-manage designated tasks and projects.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Solid knowledge of Linux and/or Windows OS administration.
- Comprehensive experience with provisioning and managing infrastructure and applications in cloud environments, ideally within AWS.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-node clusters, with the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks such as altering IP addresses or host nodes, or changing storage locations for pods and services.
Responsibilities
- Utilize experience and judgment to independently devise and achieve objectives.
- Foster effective communication spanning Sales, Engineering, Configuration Management, Support, and Project Management teams.
- Adopt a consistent DevOps methodology to enhance all aspects of the process and guarantee end-to-end quality across various functions.
- Design and establish reliable and efficient infrastructure to optimize service delivery and fulfill project uptime requirements in both cloud and client-hosted settings throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Identify and implement automated infrastructure capabilities such as backups, security tools, and monitoring.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and consistently enhance processes for building, packaging, and deploying software.
- Record baselines, identify product thresholds, and track trend development for performance metrics related to deployments and configuration across all products.
- Discover and incorporate new tools to enhance deployment infrastructure and monitoring capabilities.
- Manage virtual machines, including setup and configuration using platforms like VMware and Hyper-V.
- Create, manage, and execute automated install processes for configuration management (CM) across all products and customers.
- Install proprietary, public, and third-party software on development, test, and/or production servers, including customer environments, while maintaining detailed installation instructions for each setup and addressing any installation issues that arise.
- Oversee Kubernetes management, including setting up clusters on bare metal or virtual servers, managing cloud clusters, configuring, deploying, and updating pods and containers, alongside managing nodes and storage accounts.
- Maintain software release records for each customer’s site.
- Conduct database imports/exports and execute scripts; ideally capable of creating and running advanced SQL queries.
- Engage in field device testing, software release rollout, OS patching, application configuration, and COTS tool upgrades.
- Collaborate with customers to coordinate and facilitate software release rollouts to production settings for multiple Q-Free products.
- Work with Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams to design, document, and propose architectural solutions for both current and prospective customers.
- Be available for 24/7 on-call support to handle after-hours infrastructure issues, ensuring compliance with project service level agreements and performance standards.
