- Administer and oversee Palo Alto Networks NGFWs within production settings, including report creation and analysis to support internal security evaluations. - Manage configurations and operations through Panorama, involving template management, device groups, policy pushes, and relevant upgrades. - Create, manage, and document security rules with a focus on policy lifecycle management, encompassing request intake, implementation, validation, and reviews. - Optimize rules by cleaning up and consolidating redundant or unused entries, as well as tuning for performance. - Execute blocking measures and directives, ensuring robust validation and rollback strategies are in place. - Develop and uphold rules utilizing App-ID for application-based segmentation and ensuring least-privilege access, while converting legacy rulesets to enhance visibility and control. - Tune Palo Alto Networks security profiles to balance traffic demands with risk management. - Ensure compliance of firewall configurations with security standards, and recommend adjustments to meet desired security outcomes. - Troubleshoot policy behavior using various logs and tools, while managing URL and IP whitelists/blacklists according to threat intelligence and organizational requirements. - Collaborate with security operations, networking teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate change management and incident response. - Keep accurate documentation, including network diagrams, rule justifications, standard operating procedures, and change logs.
