Requirements
Must:
- Over 10 years of leadership experience in engineering, preferably within the software domain.
- At least 5 years of experience in project and/or product management in a technical setting.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A keen interest in or experience with Artificial Intelligence or Industrial IoT systems is advantageous.
- A Master’s degree in engineering is a plus.
- Experience in the rail industry or a similar field would be an asset.
- A solid track record (8+ years) in leading software development, with considerable experience in managing intricate software projects.
- Strong project management expertise, with preferred certifications in Agile, PMP, or similar methodologies.
- A thorough understanding of software development best practices, quality assurance, and contemporary development tools and environments.
- The ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and work alongside other directors to reach strategic objectives.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% both domestically and internationally.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering team, which encompasses systems, software, quality, and project engineers, to develop and sustain our platform in alignment with product plans.
- Work closely with the Director of AI to ensure that software development aligns with AI model integration for smooth deployment and functionality of predictive technologies.
- Manage the entire software development lifecycle from conception through to deployment, ensuring adherence to best practices in agile project management, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
- Establish and maintain stringent quality assurance processes, which include automated testing frameworks, code reviews, and performance metrics to guarantee reliability and scalability of the platform.
- Coordinate efforts across cross-functional teams, including product management, systems engineering, UX/UI design, and customer support, to ensure that project goals align with user needs and company objectives.
- Promote innovation within the team by fostering the exploration of new technologies and development methodologies that can enhance the platform’s capabilities.
- Supervise resource allocation, budgeting, and forecasting for development projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and timely project completion.
- Communicate technical challenges and milestones to stakeholders and senior management while providing regular updates on project status and strategic direction.
