Requirements

Must:
- We require 7+ years of Oracle database administration experience. - We require 5+ years of PeopleSoft DBA experience. - We require 5+ years of PeopleSoft Internet Architecture experience, including WebLogic web server and Tuxedo. - We require hands-on Linux experience. - We require experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager. - We need strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities. - We need the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across different technical backgrounds. - We value a strong customer service mindset. - We require excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. - We need the ability to perform well under pressure and manage multiple demanding initiatives. - We expect proven success working both independently and as part of a team. - We need the ability to prioritize and handle several complex assignments at once. - We require clear, concise communication and strong documentation skills. - We need a willingness to learn new technologies and understand how systems interact. - We expect proactive knowledge sharing with peers, customers, and supervisors. - We require proficiency with most Microsoft Office applications. - We require availability for off-hours support. - We require a bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience. - We prefer familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud. - We prefer experience with Microsoft SQL Server. - We prefer previous operational support of production systems.

Responsibilities

- We install, upgrade, monitor, and maintain PeopleSoft infrastructure components, including web servers, application servers, process schedulers, and Integration Broker. - We provide support for PeopleSoft application upgrades, issue diagnosis, and troubleshooting. - We deliver technical assistance and consulting for database application usage and features. - We resolve database application errors and related production issues. - We monitor and maintain both production and non-production database environments. - We provide database backup, restore, and recovery services. - We troubleshoot database problems and perform root-cause analysis. - We establish standards, procedures, and guidelines for secure and effective database use. - We create and maintain physical database structures. - We install, upgrade, and maintain enterprise database software, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. - We coordinate with vendors on database software matters and ensure license compliance. - We help plan the future direction of database software in support of institutional goals. - We monitor and protect database and database software security in coordination with other teams. - We perform quarterly security patching. - We manage migrations and oversee changes to production environments. - We provide 24/7 production incident support as part of our on-call coverage. - We verify backups daily and review and resolve log and monitoring alerts.

We are the Database Management Services team at Princeton University, a highly technical group of technologists supporting the database software infrastructure that enables academic and administrative computing across the University. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will help us deliver a secure, dependable, high-quality, and high-performance environment for enterprise databases used by both academic and administrative applications. You will work closely with colleagues across other OIT teams and with technical staff in University departments, providing expert guidance and support for development initiatives. This role allows for a hybrid of teamwork and independent work with limited supervision. A remote arrangement within the United States may be considered for candidates with the right background and experience, and occasional travel to Princeton University may be required approximately 2 to 3 times per year.
