Senior Applications Engineer - Powell Automation

Requirements
Must:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Over 4 years of experience in electrical equipment estimation or a related field
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret client-provided documents such as specifications, drawings, and data sheets
- Basic understanding of at least two of the following areas is preferred:
- Networking and Cybersecurity
- RTUs, HMIs, and SCADA Systems for Automation and Control
- Protective Relay programming and commissioning
- PLC applications for Switchgear
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Oracle ERP system; familiarity with project-related software such as Primavera, Microsoft Projects, Excel, and Oracle is a plus
- Previous experience in the development, execution, integration, troubleshooting, and/or commissioning of power application control systems is preferred
- Knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, IEC61850, DNP3, Profibus is an advantage
- Understanding of 3-phase power is preferable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Capability to communicate effectively and professionally at all organizational levels
- Keen interest in staying updated on current industry trends and technologies to enhance our solutions
Responsibilities
- Achieve proficiency in PAD solutions and offerings
- Conduct a thorough technical review to understand customer requirements in proposals including system designs and various layouts
- Collaborate with other Powell divisions to create comprehensive cross-business solutions
- Analyze market conditions and trends to inform current and future automation solutions
- Contribute to the development of product specifications
- Foster long-term relationships with clients to enhance their experience and trust in our automation solutions
- Prepare internal proposals including technical budget estimates and cost justification models
- Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in automation by utilizing products from various manufacturers
- Ensure adherence to our Health, Safety & Environmental policies at all times
- Independently assess customer specifications for feasibility related to Powells capabilities
- Read and interpret various electrical and network drawings
- Generate precise proposals based on customer documentation
- Identify and communicate application concerns prior to proposal submission
- Translate conceptual designs into actionable proposals
- Optimize solutions for the benefit of both Powell and our customers
- Provide technical support for Powell Sales teams during discussions and presentations
- Evaluate competitor sub-vendor proposals and assess associated risks
- Work with minimal supervision and potentially lead projects with multiple Application Engineers
- Support new sales opportunities by offering technical guidance and participating in promotions
