Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience in electrical or computer systems
- 5-7 years of experience in control system or computer system engineering
- Proficiency in Ladder Logic, particularly with Allen Bradley systems (e.g., PLC 5, SLC, and Controllogix)
- Experience in HMI design, preferably with FactoryTalk and Ignition
- Strong programming skills in Python, C, SQL, Java, and CSS
- Background in managing environments with stringent uptime requirements
- Expertise in database design, management, and programming interfaces with MS SQL Server
- Solid understanding of networking and network security best practices
- Experience in Virtualization using VMware Workstation and ESXi
- Knowledge of layer 2 and 3 network topologies, including VLANs, Spanning Tree, and IP routing
- Familiarity with OPC-UA protocol and MQTT, with Kepware experience preferred
- Strong analytical abilities and innovative problem-solving skills
- Capability to focus on both the overarching objectives and intricate details
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company safety protocols
- Design and develop computer-based systems that facilitate engineering processes, manufacturing equipment, and automation
- Create and maintain interfaces among machines, PLCs, sensors, and data systems
- Undertake basic network design for new projects and upgrades in accordance with IT standards and security protocols
- Assist with data acquisition, analysis, and visualization for engineering and production teams
- Collaborate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers to enhance system performance
- Diagnose and resolve system-level challenges involving hardware, software, and networked equipment
- Assist in the rollout of industrial control systems, SCADA, and HMI platforms
- Promote system reliability, availability, and data integrity in production settings
- Contribute to validation, testing, and documentation of engineering systems
- Work with vendors and internal teams to incorporate new technologies into existing operations
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in HMI, UI, and ERP integrations
- Install and maintain distributed control systems across the corporation
- Drive ongoing enhancements to Global plant systems
- Backup, document, and troubleshoot Virtual Machines and ESX servers for manufacturing
- Offer technical support for facilities globally
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Description
We are looking for a skilled Computer Systems Engineer II to join our Corporate Engineering team. In this role, you will engage in designing, purchasing, and installing technology at our various plant locations. You will collaborate with manufacturing sites to troubleshoot and solve problems, and you will take responsibility for backing up, maintaining, and troubleshooting plant systems and standard code libraries for our Controls Team. This position emphasizes engineering support for manufacturing and process systems, distinctly apart from traditional IT functions. Located in-person, we offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $120,000 per year, along with a robust benefits package that includes 401(k) matching, health and dental insurance, paid time off, and relocation assistance.
