Requirements
Must:
- 24+ years of experience with Databricks is strongly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of AWS data ecosystem, including hands-on design and engineering with various data types
- Expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, including schema design and performance tuning
- Strong skills in data modeling and the ability to produce effective ER diagrams
- Near-expert level in optimizing databases for performance and scalability
- Comprehensive understanding of multi-tenant architectures, including schema isolation and workload management
- Experience with both OLTP and OLAP systems, including modern data warehousing and ETL/ELT best practices
- Familiarity with data streaming and queuing systems such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pulsar
- Ability to design data sharing solutions that enable customer ingestion into their own data lakes
- Experience with data pipelines optimized for AI/ML workloads, covering aspects like feature engineering and model-ready datasets
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize enterprise data solutions within AWS environments, encompassing structured, unstructured, relational, and NoSQL sources
- Create both logical and physical data models, including ER diagrams, dimensional models, and multi-tenant schemas
- Lead initiatives for performance tuning and optimization of Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
- Define and implement OLTP and OLAP architectures, along with data warehousing and robust ETL/ELT practices
- Develop and support real-time data streaming solutions, utilizing technologies such as CDC and event-driven pipelines
- Facilitate the near real-time transfer of data changes to customers for integration into their respective data lakes
- Architect and enhance modern data lakes and environments, preferably leveraging Databricks as the chosen platform
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams and remote resources to ensure the delivery of scalable, reliable, and well-governed data systems
- Establish standards, best practices, and architectural frameworks for enterprise data management
- (Preferred) Develop or enhance data platforms that are conducive to AI/ML workloads, focusing on data readiness and optimization
Description
We are currently seeking a hands-on Data Architect to become the primary data expert within our organization located in Atlanta, GA (Hybrid). As we grow, this role will have the responsibility for the architecture, modeling, performance optimization, and governance of all our data systems. We do not currently have dedicated data professionals, aside from a DBA, and are also in the process of hiring an offshore data engineer for smaller-scale tasks. The Data Architect will play a crucial role in establishing standards, setting direction, and designing scalable solutions primarily focused on AWS and Databricks.
