Requirements
Must:
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience with a Bachelors degree, 6 years with a Masters, or 4 years with a PhD in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field. An additional 4 years of experience may substitute for a Bachelors, totaling 12+ years.
- At least 4 years of experience in Information System Security Engineering or a similar role supporting government information systems.
- Strong familiarity with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), FISMA, FedRAMP, and related cybersecurity laws and directives.
- Solid understanding of network security principles, including segmentation, firewalls, routing/switching, DNS/DHCP, TLS, VPN, proxy, and NAC basics.
- Knowledge of identity and access management fundamentals such as authentication, authorization, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and role-based access control.
- Experience with Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), Multi-Factor Authentication, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management concepts including scan interpretation, prioritization, and remediation validation.
- Strong written communication abilities for creating decisions, standards, and actionable remediation guidance.
- Possession of one or more professional certifications: CISSP, CCSP, GSEC, or CASP+/SecurityX.
- US Citizenship with eligibility to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust.
- Willingness to work on-site at our Herndon/Chantilly, VA or Bowie, MD locations with occasional travel to customer sites in the National Capital Region.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the BNATCS Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), as well as the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) team, system engineers, architects, and security personnel to secure information systems.
- Validate that information system control measures are thoroughly documented, functioning as intended, and producing desired outcomes with a prove the control works approach.
- Generate comprehensive security artifacts such as architecture diagrams, data flows, threat models, and validation plans.
- Utilize strong communication skills to contribute to and recommend decisions, standards, and actionable remediation guidance that may evolve into sector-wide cybersecurity policies and best practices.
- Review potential changes to information systems for security implications while ensuring compliance and process requirements are met.
- Aid in internal and external audits by preparing necessary system artifacts and addressing auditor inquiries.
- Support incident reporting and coordination of security events.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to embed cybersecurity requirements into operational workflows.
- Effectively manage ambiguity and drive collaborative outcomes across teams.
