Requirements
Must:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in hardware design engineering or a comparable role
- Experience in developing nuclear safety-related I&C systems, encompassing equipment qualification, commercial grade dedication, and system implementation and testing is preferred
- Ability to create complex drawing packages defining large assemblies, such as I&C cabinets with detailed bills of materials, is preferable
- Knowledge of high-speed multi-layer PCB design is a plus
- Familiarity with areas such as:
- Serial, SPI, and Ethernet communications and networks
- FPGA hardware implementations
- HDL languages like VHDL
- PLC or DCS implementations, including 4-20mA signal loops, RTDs, thermocouples, and conversion processes
- Board design tools including OrCAD and Altium
- Electrical design tools such as SolidWorks Electrical
- Designs involving multiple ground domains
- MATLAB and Simulink
- Quality standards for wire routing, like UL-508A, IEEE-384, IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Proven ability to effect positive change, think innovatively, and quickly adapt to shifting priorities and client needs
- Capability to manage numerous tasks, projects, and tight deadlines simultaneously while ensuring quality and precision
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Defining electrical hardware specifications for new hardware components, assemblies, and systems
- Preparing and reviewing design documentation, including hardware schematics, wiring diagrams, failure modes and effects analysis, reliability calculations, design specifications, power and heat calculations, testing specifications, procedures, and reports
- Working alongside programmable logic engineers to guarantee compatibility and integration with hardware components
- Testing hardware prototypes, documenting, and analyzing the outcomes
- Diagnosing errors, troubleshooting issues, and proposing design modifications
- Supervising hardware vendors, contract manufacturers, and integration teams to ensure that final products align with specified designs
