Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field - At least 5 years of experience in hardware design engineering or a similar role - Experience in developing nuclear safety-related I&C system projects, including equipment qualification and commercial grade dedication - Proven experience in creating documentation for large, intricate assemblies such as I&C cabinets with nested bills of materials - Familiarity with high-speed multi-layer PCB design is a plus - Desirable experience in communication protocols such as SPI, serial, and Ethernet networks - Knowledge of hardware implementations using FPGAs and HDL languages like VHDL - Experience in PLC or DCS implementations, including signal loops and transducers - Proficiency in board design software such as OrCAD and Altium - Familiarity with electrical design tools such as SolidWorks Electrical - Understanding of hardware design with multiple ground domains - Proficient in MATLAB and Simulink - Awareness of wire routing and quality standards, including UL-508A and IEEE-384 - Demonstrated capability to drive meaningful change, think innovatively, and adapt to shifting priorities - Ability to manage various projects and deadlines while upholding quality standards - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project) - Strong written and verbal communication abilities

Responsibilities

- Define electrical hardware requirements for new components, assemblies, and systems - Prepare and review design documentation, including hardware drawings and wiring diagrams - Conduct failure modes and effects analysis along with reliability calculations - Draft hardware design specifications and test documentation such as procedures and reports - Collaborate with programmable logic engineers to ensure hardware compatibility and integration - Test hardware prototypes, analyze outcomes, and document findings - Troubleshoot issues, diagnose errors, and recommend design improvements - Oversee hardware vendors and contract manufacturers to ensure adherence to design specifications
