Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science or an engineering field preferred
- 1-3+ years of experience in hardware development, ideally within a professional environment
- Proficient in C/C++ and familiar with Python or another scripting language
- Basic knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Fundamental understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns
- Experience with Linux operating systems
- Knowledge of communication protocols and buses, including CAN, USB, I2C, and Ethernet
- Comfortable with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
- Exposure to open-source libraries for tasks like computer vision
- Familiarity with ROS 1/2, even if limited
- Experience in projects extending beyond the scripting phase into production or release stages.
Responsibilities
- Interpret system requirements and negotiate the necessary ones into final solutions
- Collaborate with team members and users to design critical features from scratch, including architecture and workflows
- Prototype, validate, and enhance comprehensive features from sensor integration to networking and SLAM for reconnaissance
- Develop basic front-ends to illustrate feature utility and user experience concepts
- Test features in laboratory and simulated settings to ensure dependability and make enhancements
- Optimize features for video streaming in low bandwidth settings and for hardware performance when required
- Troubleshoot complex issues that arise during testing or operation, including processing and threading problems
- Work with hardware team members for integration and to resolve issues
- Produce essential documentation to clarify design intent, intended framework/SDK usage, and post-test suggestions
- Ensure that your code is readable and maintainable, without requiring it to be perfect
- Stay informed about user feedback, best practices, and new technologies
- Engage directly with users to inform engineering direction on specific features.
