Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience as a hardware design engineer or a similar role
- Experience with nuclear safety-related I&C system development projects, including equipment qualification and system testing, is highly advantageous
- Ability to create detailed drawing packages for complex assemblies such as I&C cabinets is a plus
- Familiarity with high-speed multi-layer PCB design is desirable
- Knowledge of SPI, serial, and Ethernet communication and networks is beneficial but not essential
- Experience with hardware implementations using FPGAs and HDL languages such as VHDL is valued
- Familiarity with PLC or DCS implementations, including signal loops and sensors
- Proficiency with board design software like OrCAD and Altium
- Experience with electrical design software such as SolidWorks Electrical
- Understanding of wire routing and quality standards including UL-508A and IEEE-384
- Strong ability to innovate and adapt quickly to changing priorities and client needs
- Capability to manage multiple assignments and strict deadlines while ensuring quality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Define electrical hardware requirements for new components, assemblies, and systems
- Prepare and review design documentation, including hardware drawings and wiring diagrams
- Conduct failure modes and effects analysis and reliability calculations
- Develop specifications for hardware design, power assessments, and testing protocols
- Collaborate with programmable logic engineers to guarantee hardware compatibility
- Test hardware prototypes, analyze results, and document findings
- Troubleshoot and diagnose errors while suggesting design improvements
- Manage hardware vendors and contract manufacturers to ensure final products meet specifications
