Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in hardware design engineering or a similar role
- Experience in nuclear safety-related instrumentation and control system development projects, including equipment qualification, commercial grade dedication, and system implementation and testing is highly preferred
- Proven experience in creating drawing packages for large, complex assemblies like instrumentation and control cabinets with nested bills of materials is highly advantageous
- Desirable experience in high-speed multi-layer PCB design
- Familiarity with SPI, serial, Ethernet communication, and networking is a plus
- Knowledge of hardware implementations using FPGAs and HDL languages such as VHDL is beneficial
- Experience with PLC or DCS implementations, including 4-20mA signal loops, RTDs, thermocouples, solid state relays, and analog to digital conversion is helpful
- Proficient in board design packages like OrCAD and Altium
- Experienced in electrical design software such as SolidWorks Electrical
- Knowledge of hardware and system designs across different ground domains
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink
- Understanding of wire routing and quality standards, including UL-508A, IEEE-384, and IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Ability to drive meaningful change, think innovatively, and adapt quickly to shifting priorities and client needs
- Capable of managing multiple tasks, projects, and competing priorities while maintaining quality
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Project)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Define electrical hardware specifications for new hardware components, assemblies, and systems
- Prepare and review design documentation, including hardware drawings, wiring diagrams, failure mode effects analysis, reliability calculations, hardware design specifications, and test procedures and reports
- Collaborate with programmable logic engineers to ensure hardware compatibility and integration
- Test hardware prototypes, analyze results, and document findings
- Troubleshoot and diagnose errors while recommending design improvements
- Oversee hardware vendors, contract manufacturers, and integration teams to ensure final products align with design specifications
