Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. You should possess over five years of Software Engineering experience, specifically focused on APIs and system integration. Ideally, you have a profound understanding of Java (version 8 or higher), along with experience in the Spring Framework (Boot, Security), Hibernate (JPA), SQL, REST, Microservices, AWS, Kafka, and a basic knowledge of OAuth is a plus. Strong technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting abilities are essential, as are excellent project management and team coaching skills. You should have experience in managing offshore software developers.
Responsibilities
In this role, your key responsibilities will include designing, building, and maintaining backend services in Java, with a strong emphasis on performance, scalability, and reliability. You will utilize a microservices architecture to implement applications. Your tasks will also involve conducting requirement analysis and system architecture, which will include building database schemas and determining the best development approaches. You will be responsible for implementing observability and monitoring tools to ensure system reliability and quick resolution of issues. Additionally, you will mentor fellow engineers in Java best practices and backend design patterns, identify production issues within existing services, and provide effective solutions. Writing documentation for API clients and ensuring that builds and web applications function smoothly in production are also key aspects of your role. You will take part in daily standup meetings, bi-weekly sprint planning, and retrospective meetings, providing feedback and participating in code reviews.
Description
We are seeking someone with over five years of experience working with Microservices architecture who can maintain a broad view of the development process and provide clarity on developer tasks. You should be capable of prioritizing projects and understanding task significance throughout the day, as well as be comfortable conducting code reviews. Prior experience in determining project requirements and developing team work schedules is preferred. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate others are essential. Excellent technical documentation skills are also crucial for this role. This position is a contract role, with a pay range of $80.00 to $90.00 per hour. We expect a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week. The work location is in person at our office in Ashburn, VA 20147.
