Requirements
Must:
- Proficient in PHP, particularly with CodeIgniter or similar MVC frameworks
- Strong Python skills for backend scripting, data manipulation, web scraping, and automation
- Expertise in MySQL/MariaDB, including query optimization, indexing, and connection troubleshooting
- Familiarity with MongoDB for managing document-based data and performance
- Experience with Elasticsearch for indexing, search tuning, and query optimization
- Ability to analyze and debug logs, stack traces, and system errors
- Proven track record in API integrations (REST, JSON) and complex data flow management
- Understanding of cron jobs, scheduled tasks, and asynchronous processing systems
- Basic frontend knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to address UI issues related to backend logic
- Familiarity with Git operations, including merging, branching, and managing large repositories
- Comfortable navigating a complex, interdependent multi-layer architecture
- Knowledge of caching strategies (server cache, application cache, database cache)
- Some knowledge of AI/LLM workflows or a willingness to learn about pre-processing and post-processing logic
- Previous experience with data scrapers, importers, or managing external datasets is an asset
- Capable of maintaining and improving existing logic instead of starting from scratch
- Minimum of 2 years of continuous work experience as a developer
- Fluent in English
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve PHP backend issues, database errors, and intermittent glitches
- Debug and enhance MySQL/MariaDB queries for improved connection and performance
- Analyze logs, track execution paths, and apply effective fixes
- Maintain Python scripts that facilitate data import, scraping, and automation tasks
- Contribute to performance enhancements across backend services and data processes
- Collaborate on systems interfacing with external APIs and AI/LLM logic layers
- Aid in preserving consistent functionality across a multi-database setup
- Assist the lead engineer in the design and implementation of new AI-driven backend logic that incorporates thinking capabilities to our procurement system
- Prototype and evaluate new approaches to employing generative AI for user experience enhancement and decision automation
- Manage data pre-processing and post-processing logic for systems and APIs interacting with external AI/LLM services
- Ensure efficient data movement between our various databases (MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch) and AI logic systems
