Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years of military or professional experience, or a Masters degree in a STEM discipline with no experience required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a final adjudicated government Secret clearance within a reasonable timeframe as specified by the Company
- Familiarity with requirement tools such as DOORS, Cameo, and Agile software tools like JIRA and Confluence
- Knowledge of safety and reliability tools, such as PTC Windchill Quality Solutions
- Understanding of military systems safety standards such as MIL-STD-882, and software process standards like DO-178B/C
- Experience in hardware/software integration and military aviation
- Strong communication skills to interact with various levels of leadership and clients effectively
- Independent problem-solving abilities to analyze and mitigate risks in system designs
Responsibilities
- Apply safety engineering principles as defined in MIL-STD-882 and software safety methodologies per the Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook
- Evaluate complex aviation systems to identify hazards, assess risks, and determine safety requirements
- Independently recommend safety criteria for system designs and procedures
- Collaborate with design teams to conduct MIL-STD-882E hazard analyses
- Review and prepare technical reports, change proposals, and documentation for system safety and Airworthiness Certification
- Review Test Plans and Procedures to verify safety requirements and identify potential hazards
- Conduct safety analyses in accordance with industry standards, including experience in AGILE development
- Develop, review, and approve system safety artifacts and requirements
