Requirements
Must:
- Active Department of Defense Secret level security clearance necessary.
- DoD Approved 8570/8140 OS and Cybersecurity certifications mandatory.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) required.
- Preferred: CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) or similar.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field; 5 years of experience with degree or 10 years with technical/vocational certification.
- 10-14 years of relevant technical experience essential.
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF), and VLAN management.
- Expert proficiency in Cisco IOS/IOS-XE configuration and troubleshooting.
- Advanced understanding of 802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w, 802.11 wireless standards.
- Significant experience with SolarWinds Orion NPM, ARMIS, and Ansible automation.
- Comprehensive understanding of network security: firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, Cisco ISE.
- Advanced performance optimization using MRTG, SNMP, and MIB analysis.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architectures and segmentation techniques.
- Proficiency in OTDR, cable certification, and network analysis tools.
- Knowledge of synchronous and asynchronous communications, Ethernet, Gigabit, FDDI, ATM.
- Experience with Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP in enterprise settings.
- 10+ years of progressive network engineering experience in enterprise contexts.
- DoD Healthcare Information Systems experience strongly favored.
- Proven skill in managing complex multi-site network operations (50+ locations).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities for executive-level reporting.
Responsibilities
- Act as the regional point of contact for complex network issues and escalations across the CONUS region.
- Provide expert troubleshooting for LAN/WLAN/WAN issues throughout CONUS facilities.
- Lead initiatives for technology evaluation and assess new networking products or solutions.
- Conduct network requirements analysis for data, voice, and video infrastructure.
- Formulate implementation strategies and recommendations for network enhancements.
- Mentor and guide Referral Engineers, Network Engineer Associates, and Network Specialists.
- Engage in technical working groups and strategic planning sessions.
- Collaborate with the DHA Network Modernization Team on infrastructure upgrades.
- Support emergency operations and offer on-call expertise for critical situations.
- Oversee complex change management and network architecture decisions.
- Ensure adherence to DHA network standards and Zero Trust Architecture principles.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
