Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years in facilities management within a hotel or similar environment, or a 4-year degree plus over 1 year of relevant management experience, or a 2-year degree with at least 3 years of related management experience.
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- Stationary Engineer’s license as required by local regulations.
- Proficient in HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance tasks.
- Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
- Physically able to exert up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or 50 pounds frequently, as well as lift, carry, push, or pull objects.
- Occasional travel for business may be necessary.
- Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor consistently.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interaction with staff and guests.
- Strong listening skills to understand and clarify concerns from employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Approach all interactions with guests and colleagues in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Attendance at all required hotel meetings and training sessions is necessary.
- Participation in management on duty (M.O.D.) coverage as needed.
- Regular and reliable attendance in line with Highgate Hotel standards is expected.
- Uphold high standards of personal grooming and appearance, including wearing a nametag.
- Adhere to Highgate Hotel policies and procedures for safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Focus on maximizing productivity, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to problems.
- Effective problem-solving skills including anticipation, prevention, and resolution.
- Ability to analyze complex information and data from various sources to achieve established objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding company and personal information.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and mentor all Engineering staff in areas including customer service, procedural standards, and loss prevention measures.
- Draft, approve, and distribute Engineering staff work schedules in compliance with Highgate Hotel policies.
- Establish and manage the department’s annual budget.
- Generate financial forecasts and engage in monthly profit and loss analysis meetings.
- Create and execute maintenance plans for hotel facilities, equipment, and grounds to ensure they are kept in good repair.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for all hotel machinery and equipment.
- Verify that all emergency and safety equipment are consistently inspected, tested, and certified according to Highgate Hotel standards.
- Ensure timely and respectful handling of room maintenance requests.
- Respond to all alarms swiftly to ascertain locations and causes, report findings to the Front Desk, and take necessary actions.
- Assist with special projects and renovations as needed.
- Actively engage in energy conservation initiatives.
- Review guest and meeting planner feedback to quickly identify and resolve issues.
- Ensure adherence to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
- Manage all contracts with vendors related to the engineering department.
- Actively participate in all Highgate Hotel initiatives and programs.
- Take a lead role in the Highgate Hotel Safety Committee.
