Requirements
Must:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- This position requires full onsite presence (5 days/week) at Westover Air Reserve Base, Chicopee, MA.
- No security clearance is necessary, but the ability to obtain a military CAC for base access is essential.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- At least 12 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, systems architecture, or data science.
- Specialized AI Experience: Minimum of 5 years dedicated to developing and deploying custom AI/ML models, with an emphasis on neural networks and deep learning.
- Proficiency in AI/ML technologies: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras.
- Experience with Big Data tools: Apache Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, and PostgreSQL.
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages/frameworks: Python, Django, Celery, and Linux environments.
- Understanding of integrations: REST, GraphQL, and MQTT.
- DevOps and Infrastructure expertise: Extensive experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD workflows, and automated testing within a DevSecOps framework.
- Strong communication abilities, particularly in technical writing and simplifying complex AI concepts for non-technical users.
- Familiarity with secure and air-gapped operational environments is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- AI/ML Engineering: Design, train, optimize, and deploy custom AI/ML models (including deep learning and neural networks) for specific Civil Engineering applications.
- Data Engineering: Create and manage data pipelines, ensuring preparation, labeling, cleansing, and validation of large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
- Systems Architecture: Oversee the complete development lifecycle, including testing and production environments, while maintaining compliance with secure boundaries.
- DevSecOps Integration: Establish CI/CD pipelines, manage version control, and implement automated testing; oversee containerization with Docker/Kubernetes and secure coding protocols.
- Full-Stack Development: Construct and sustain robust REST/GraphQL services and backend systems utilizing Django and PostgreSQL.
- Sustainment Training: Direct software patching, model retraining, and performance monitoring; facilitate monthly training sessions for Air Force personnel to promote operational use.
- Reporting: Prepare monthly project status updates and serve as a technical representative in briefings and committee meetings.
