Requirements
Must:
- Passion for system software programming
- Profound understanding of operating system fundamentals
- Strong kernel/systems software programming abilities in C/C++ with practical experience in Linux/UNIX environments
- Capability to debug complex systemic issues, including crash dump analysis
- Excellent problem-solving aptitude with great attention to detail
- Familiarity with modern automation tools and frameworks, alongside a keen interest in advanced testing methodologies, such as unit testing frameworks
- Ability to collaborate efficiently within cross-functional, geographically distributed teams
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with storage hardware components including SSDs, HDDs, RAID controllers, and storage arrays
- Knowledge of storage/disk device drivers, disk I/O scheduling, encryption technology and TCG Opal, SED is preferred
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, a Masters Degree or a PhD; or equivalent experience is essential
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant software development and testing experience
Responsibilities
- Apply contemporary software engineering skills and industry best practices to assist in the development of new products and enhancements for the ONTAP software stack
- Participate in technical design discussions, contributing insights on systems engineering concepts such as computer architecture, operating systems, file systems, networking, algorithms, and data structures
- Design, code, debug, analyze performance, and troubleshoot across development, testing, and production settings
- Collaborate with a highly skilled global team, engaging in technical dialogues and serving as a resource for colleagues
- Take initiative in learning and utilizing the latest testing technologies, tools, and frameworks while promoting automation initiatives
- Develop, adapt, and implement detailed software test plans and test cases, engaging both manually and through automation
- Investigate and resolve issues while working closely with team members and across departments to overcome challenges in testing and production environments
- Work on storage device drivers for NVMe, SATA, SCSI, SAS, Fibre Channel
- Explore opportunities with encryption protocols for various types of self-encrypting drives
