Requirements
Must:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of experience in network management and systems administration, including three years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
- Proficiency with network topologies, configurations, and network management software.
- Experience in managing local, campus, and wide area networks.
- Cisco switch and router configuration experience.
- Experience with firewall configuration.
- Ability to uphold the security and integrity of the State of Texas infrastructure.
- Preferred: Cisco certification and Palo Alto certification.
- Valid State of Texas Class C drivers license.
Responsibilities
- Create switch configurations and develop templates to ensure consistent operations.
- Troubleshoot various connection types including WAN and LAN Fiber and Copper connections.
- Monitor overall network health, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations.
- Manage network installations for new projects.
- Conduct advanced network systems work with minimal supervision.
- Oversee or conduct major studies regarding system use and recommend enhancements.
- Review network system plans for accuracy and efficiency.
- Analyze disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures.
- Respond to network outages, managing incidents and service requests.
- Submit change management requests and develop test and implementation plans for new changes.
- Provide technical advice to business units to support new technology solutions.
- Handle issues related to remote sites using firewalls and routers, as well as local DIR MPLS circuits.
- Address simple to complex network problems as assigned.
