Requirements
Must:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in administering Databricks workspaces within a cloud environment, preferably AWS
- Strong grasp of Databricks cluster configuration, job scheduling, and workspace management
- At least 8 years handling user access, roles, and permissions with IAM, SCIM, and role-based access control (RBAC)
- Expertise in Apache Spark concepts, including performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience integrating Databricks with cloud storage solutions (e.g., S3)
- Proven track record in implementing and enforcing cluster policies and workspace governance standards
- Familiarity with Databricks SQL, notebooks, and job orchestration
- Capable of monitoring platform health, performance, and availability
- Knowledge of data security, encryption, and compliance protocols
- Proficient with DevOps or automation tools (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, scripting)
- Preferred: 4 years of experience in administering Databricks within an enterprise or government setting
- Preferred: 4 years of experience with Databricks Unity Catalog for data governance and access management
- Preferred: 4 years of understanding cost management and optimization for Databricks workloads
- Preferred: 4 years of experience supporting AI/ML projects using Databricks ML and MLflow
- Preferred: 4 years of familiarity with data lake and lakehouse architectures
- Preferred: 4 years of knowledge in Python, SQL, or Scala for administration and troubleshooting
Responsibilities
- Understand business objectives and challenges to identify alternative solutions
- Conduct studies and cost/benefit analyses of alternatives
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and challenges to automate processes or enhance existing systems
- Collaborate with personnel from various organizational units to assess current operations, pinpoint issues, and gather specific input/output requirements
- Create detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps necessary for developing or modifying computer programs
- Review system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations to assess if requested changes are feasible within the existing infrastructure
- Administer, configure, and support the Databricks platform for scalable data engineering, analytics, and AI/ML workloads
- Ensure platform reliability, security, cost efficiency, and compliance while assisting data engineers, analysts, and data scientists
- Manage workspace configuration, cluster policies, user access, and cloud service integrations
- Continuously monitor the platform to support enterprise data and analytics initiatives
