Requirements
Must:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Network Security Engineer (10 years preferred).
- Extensive experience with Palo Alto and/or Checkpoint Firewalls.
- Proficiency with Cisco ISE.
- Significant, progressively responsible experience in a large enterprise security operations center or information technology operations, preferably within a large financial institution.
- In-depth knowledge of the cyber/information security systems engineering lifecycle.
- Advanced understanding of network and host-based forensic methodologies.
- Strong background in enterprise-grade security technologies and capabilities (e.g., SIEM, DLP, UEBA, firewall, web proxy).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the current threat landscape, including adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Proficient in information security programs and data security practices, including risk identification and assessment.
- Proven experience supervising, guiding, and mentoring professional staff.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities autonomously or as part of a team to meet objectives.
- Experience liaising with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, and vendors.
- Exceptional initiative and judgment skills for sound decision-making.
- Skilled in diplomatic and tactful interaction with staff, management, vendors, and members.
- Advanced analytical skills to summarize information and discern key elements, patterns, results, or relationships.
- Expertise in research, analysis, and problem-solving.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Competence in database, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to present findings and complex information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in leading, guiding, and mentoring professional staff.
- Advanced planning, organizational, and time management abilities.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Responsibilities
- I oversee the architecture, engineering, and operational activities necessary for the solutions required by our Network Security engineering team.
- I manage daily operations involving firewalls, network access controls, and intrusion prevention systems.
- I provide vision to guarantee that operations run smoothly and effectively.
- I ensure a consistent approach to managing network security policies.
- I serve as an escalation point for on-call engineers.
- I supervise the evaluation and analysis of current technologies to pinpoint key risk areas and ensure adequate controls are implemented to mitigate these risks.
- I oversee vulnerability and threat assessments, along with mitigation and reporting tasks.
- I identify and resolve operational performance gaps and challenges while recommending and implementing necessary changes.
- I ensure that work quality, methods, procedures, processes, and production statistics align with our business goals and standards for member service.
- I develop guidelines, standards, policies, procedures, and other technical documentation.
- I extend guidance and support to the Incident Response & Monitoring team in their efforts to detect, analyze, contain, and eliminate malicious activities.
- I maintain a thorough understanding of and ensure compliance with relevant federal and state laws, regulations, NFCU policies, and service level agreements.
- I conduct research, gather and analyze data, and present conclusions and recommendations to management.
- I monitor our work environment, directing resources to ensure we have adequate staffing to meet production and member service standards.
- I escalate operational and budgetary issues or impacts to services to management promptly, providing the relevant information regarding risk and impact.
- I perform other duties as assigned.
