Requirements
Must:
- A bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Data Management, Data Science, or a closely related field
- At least seven years of experience in software or computing infrastructure design and development
- Minimum of three years in a leadership role for technical groups or projects
- Familiarity with traditional project management methodologies; experience with Agile frameworks is a plus
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Availability to participate in international meetings during specified UTC hours
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for 2 to 4 one-week events each year
- Knowledge of radio astronomy theories and practices is an asset
- Personnel management experience is beneficial
Responsibilities
- Serve as the main link between North American ALMA software and computing teams and the international ALMA computing management
- Collaborate with scientific operational stakeholders to ensure software and computing strategies meet established requirements
- Present updates on NA software and computing statuses and risks during ALMA meetings and global forums
- Work with NRAO and international partners to create management plans, project timelines, resource allocations, and technical risk documentation for large-scale projects
- Oversee and monitor operational upgrades and relay their implications
- Engage in multi-national technical meetings across the ALMA network
- Communicate effectively with staff across all ALMA locations

Our cutting-edge radio telescopes, including the renowned Very Large Array (VLA) in New Mexico and the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia, empower astronomers to delve into cosmic discoveries. We are excited to invite a seasoned technical lead to join our Data Management and Software department as a Senior Technical Program Liaison for ALMA Software and Computing. This role involves strategizing and coordinating with various international partners to support advancements in ALMAs technical projects and operations. The position is based at one of our facilities, with potential for remote work for highly qualified candidates.
