Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, astronomy, physics, or comparable professional experience
- Minimum four years of experience as a Linux systems administrator in critical or scientific computing settings
- Familiarity with high-data-rate scientific pipelines, such as radio astronomy, genomics, or earth observation (preferred but not mandatory)
- Working knowledge of VictoriaMetrics, Ceph, SLURM, and Prometheus/Grafana/Loki stacks (advantageous)
- Experience with both agile and traditional project management methodologies
- Basic knowledge of the Next Generation Archive System (NGAS) software (a plus)

Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution and lifecycle of RHEL-based systems for scientific data processing and archiving
- Support management of the scientific data flow from the Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) in Santiago, Chile, to the NRAO Science Center
- Deploy ALMA software within our Docker environments in collaboration with JAO and other ALMA Regional Centers (ARC)
- Deploy the CASA software package
- Monitor data flow, storage efficacy, and system performance for archive and pipeline systems
- Create and sustain automation tools in Python and SQL for pipeline health monitoring, operational metric generation, and alerting
- Act as a Level-3 escalation point for production issues; perform root-cause analyses and author post-mortem documents
- Resolve elevated support tickets, ensuring timely communication of status during incidents
- Engage in agile development processes (two-week sprints, daily meetings, Jira/Confluence) to enhance stakeholder projects
- Contribute to the NRAO Common Computing Environment initiative for standardization and knowledge sharing
- Travel occasionally to NRAO sites, including the Very Large Array (VLA) and ALMA in Chile
