Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience may be considered
- Over 7 years of experience as a database administrator is preferred
- Required MS and/or Oracle Certifications
- Must possess and maintain IT-I level certification according to AR 25-2 and IAT II certifications as per DoD 8570.01-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and adhere to deadlines
- Proficient in simplifying complex information for better understanding
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision
- Proactive in preventing potential issues rather than just reacting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate concepts and proposals effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills
Responsibilities
- Execute essential database administration functions for supported platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2)
- Design, manage, and implement data schemas, tables, procedures, and access permissions
- Create database utilities and automate reporting processes
- Collaborate with team members to provide technical guidance throughout the development phases and work with vendors on new technology implementation
- Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of databases and associated systems
- Offer routine and urgent production support by coordinating with user departments and support staff to resolve system issues
- Document database processes, operational guides, and system documentation, including training materials and usage metrics
- Conduct research, analysis, and recommendations regarding database software and related tools
- Develop database security strategies and assist in disaster recovery efforts if needed
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary
