Requirements
Must:
- 10+ years of experience in data center compute operations, facilities, or infrastructure engineering, or a degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- Hands-on expertise with servers, networking, and structured cabling
- Familiarity with electrical systems including transformers, PDUs, UPS, switchgear, and generators
- Knowledge of cooling systems such as CRAC/CRAH units, CDUs, cooling towers, chillers, and containment solutions
- Proficiency with Linux and basic scripting languages (Bash, Python, Ansible)
- Experience with network CLIs (Cisco, Arista, Juniper)
- Background in collaborating with colocation providers and reviewing MOP/EOPs for electrical and mechanical operations
- Familiarity with ITSM/DCIM platforms (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, NetBox, Sunbird)
- Ability to manage lifecycle processes for servers, switches, routers, storage, and hardware
- Capable of updating asset management systems using scanners and inventory tools
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication capabilities for ticketing, customer interactions, and team coordination
- Excellent multitasking, adaptability, and time management skills with an emphasis on quality and output
- Dependable, organized, and punctual
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities, with the ability to work independently when necessary
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond on-site within 60 minutes
- Physical ability to lift 50-75 lbs and remain on feet for most of the workday
- Competence in operating material-handling equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, server-lift)
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, methodologies, software, and hardware
- Experience in high-tempo, high-stress environments
- Experience in leading or mentoring junior staff members
- Domain expertise in one or more areas such as data center power systems, cooling/HVAC systems, server or liquid cooling, network routing and switching, late generation flash storage arrays, facility or network security, or network infrastructure monitoring
- Ability to project manage key data center-centric initiatives
- Proficient in effectively presenting data to senior leadership
- Familiarity with data center key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Capability to manage outage events
- Promote a positive and collaborative team environment
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily reliability and performance of our data centers, supporting IT and facility infrastructure, including the installation and configuration of servers and compute equipment, managing structured cabling, and addressing Layer 1-3 troubleshooting across compute and network layers.
- Collaborate closely with colocation and data center providers to ensure uptime by reviewing maintenance practices, coordinating planned work, validating redundancy during transitions, and confirming site health after power or cooling events.
- Work in tandem with facilities teams to help operate and maintain essential power and cooling systems, including transformers, PDUs, UPS, switchgear, generators, CRAC and CRAH units, CDUs, chillers, cooling towers, and containment systems. Assist in capacity planning, preventive maintenance, and load balancing across power and cooling zones to secure safe, efficient, and redundant operations.
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis, enhance standard operating procedures, and implement automation to boost efficiency and consistency within our data centers globally.
