Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent practical experience.
- Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter for security clearance.
- Preferred: Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field AND 2+ years of coding experience, or Bachelors Degree and 4+ years of coding experience.
- At least 1 year of experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, IntelliCode).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Understanding of .NET is advantageous.
- Experience in developing, deploying, or integrating AI-powered solutions in production environments.
- Knowledge of designing AI applications using LLMs, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, or RAG pipelines.
- Understanding of web and cloud technologies, including containers, microservices, and CI/CD workflows.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, or managed cloud services.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of high-performance, reliable, and low-latency distributed systems that support mission-critical functions.
- Design and develop features for configuration management, monitoring, analytics, and observability of modern cloud applications.
- Collaborate with other Azure services to create a seamless experience for customers.
- Produce high-quality, well-tested code while managing the DevOps lifecycle, which includes monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and code integrity.
- Contribute to AI-driven features with technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs), Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Mentor team members and share knowledge to elevate team skills and engineering practices.

We are part of the Azure Dev Services team, which offers a comprehensive suite of managed Azure services including Azure App Configuration, Azure Managed Grafana, Azure Managed Redis, and Azure Diagnostics. Our team is focused on empowering developers to build, monitor, and scale modern applications in the cloud. As a Software Engineer II, you will work alongside a dynamic and collaborative group in the Developer Division under the CoreAI business group, where you can deepen your expertise in distributed systems and AI technologies, ultimately making a significant impact on developer infrastructure and observability.
