Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 4 years of professional engineering experience in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- Or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to satisfy Microsoft, customer, and/or governmental security screening prerequisites for this position, which includes specialized security checks.
- Preferably, a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with over 6 years of technical engineering experience in the aforementioned programming languages
- Hands-on expertise in developing and managing generative AI or agentic systems in production, ensuring quality, reliability, and iterative improvement.
- Over 5 years of experience in delivering customer-facing developer products, with proficiency in platform/foundation systems and user-centric experiences.
- Strong product perspective demonstrated by successfully navigating ambiguous problem domains and achieving high-quality results.
- Solid foundational engineering principles, inclusive of systems design, performance, and troubleshooting in intricate production settings.
- Experience in creating, executing, and fine-tuning evaluations for agentic systems, such as tools, prompts, and agent loops.
- Prior experience in developing terminal user interfaces (TUIs) or engaging with low-level terminal components is advantageous.
- Familiarity with contributing to or spearheading large-scale open-source projects is also favorable.
Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for essential product and platform aspects of the Copilot CLI and shared agent runtime.
- Establish a high standard for technical quality in agentic systems and developer-facing tools.
- Design and implement efficient, dependable terminal interfaces that developers rely on for their daily tasks.
- Utilize data, benchmarks, and user insights to inform refinement and investment strategies.
- Work collaboratively across organizational boundaries to enable teams to create agentic products based on a shared foundation.
- Shape architecture, technical direction, and engineering benchmarks beyond your immediate team.
