Requirements

Must:
- Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with at least 2 years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration - OR Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration - OR equivalent experience - Ability to comply with Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements - Familiarity with core networking principles including TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, CDN, ACL/firewalling, TLS, and certificate management - Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving performance or availability challenges using logs, metrics, and standard network troubleshooting tools - Hands-on experience with services in a cloud environment (Azure or similar) - 3+ years of technical experience in large-scale cloud or distributed systems - Knowledge of network security, cloud security controls, identity-based security policies, and large-scale certificate management - Experience with microservices patterns, API gateways, and global routing architectures - Skills in leveraging automation frameworks, scripting, GitOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, or AI-driven tools for reliability and operational efficiency - Proven ability to collaborate across teams, influence collaboratively, and engage in multi-team initiatives or modernization projects

Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and manage secure, reliable network and infrastructure services to support Microsoft Teams microservices environment - Enhance reliability by developing and refining monitoring, alerting systems, dashboards, and automated recovery solutions for critical control-plane and data-plane systems - Troubleshoot intricate issues related to traffic routing, gateway behavior, certificate management, DNS, CDN interactions, and network security protocols - Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) on a rotational basis, managing incidents, leading mitigation efforts, documenting key learnings, and refining live-site processes - Engage in root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-lasting fixes to prevent issue recurrence - Optimize the performance, reliability, and availability of services based on data-driven analysis using metrics, logs, and distributed tracing - Collaborate with partner engineering teams (security, networking, microservices, compliance, governance) to promote integrated advancements across shared infrastructure layers - Provide SRE insights on reliability, scalability, testability, operability, and security to influence project designs - Contribute to the creation of documentation, patterns, and best practices to enhance operational standards across the Teams engineering organization - Identify areas for automation via scripting, pipelines, policy-driven guardrails, or AI-enabled tools to minimize manual toil and enhance engineering productivity - Remain abreast of emerging technologies, cloud infrastructure advancements, and security innovations to apply new methods that bolster service reliability and efficiency
