Requirements
Must:
- Masters Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline AND at least 1 year of experience in security or a similar field
- OR Bachelors Degree in the same fields AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in security or a related area
- OR equivalent experience in the field
- Ability to meet Microsoft and governmental security screening requirements for this role, including a Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience identifying vulnerabilities in operating systems or native (C/C++) applications
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience in software engineering or security-related engineering
- Preferred: Public record of relevant security research, particularly in vulnerability discovery
- Preferred: Experience in exploiting bugs and bypassing security measures in operating systems
- Preferred: Familiarity with Microsoft Windows architecture
Responsibilities
- Engage in security assessments to detect and mitigate risks in Microsoft products, including design, code reviews, and fuzz testing
- Serve as the security liaison for teams developing innovative products and technologies for upcoming versions of Windows and devices
- Identify security weaknesses across key operating system features such as network protocols and security capabilities
- Utilize an extensive and up-to-date knowledge of security to create novel protections
- Collaborate with the external security community and security analysts
- Work alongside product teams to enhance security and effectively communicate the business value of security investments
Description
We are part of the Microsoft Windows Security team, dedicated to safeguarding Microsoft Windows products and devices with an emphasis on offensive security and security engineering for Windows. Our responsibility includes securing Windows client and server operating systems that billions across the globe rely on. We conduct security design and code reviews, perform penetration testing, and research vulnerabilities while implementing systematic mitigations for security threats to uphold the highest security standards. This role is hands-on and technically challenging, crucial for fortifying the security posture of our operating system platforms.
