Requirements
Must:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
- Must be able to work physically at the designated Microsoft site during the internship.
- Required to submit at least two reference letters, a cover letter, and any pertinent work or research samples.
- Understanding of relational database systems, distributed caching, key-value stores, vector databases, storage engines, model training, inference, and big data analytics is preferred.
- Experience with query processing, optimization, concurrency, transactions, resource management, and scheduling is desired.
- Knowledge of data cleaning, transformation, and algorithms is beneficial.
- Ability to implement AI and ML techniques for data management challenges is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Engage in practical application of inquiry and theory while collaborating with fellow doctoral candidates and accomplished researchers.
- Contribute to groundbreaking research and development throughout the internship.
- Form partnerships with mentors and cooperate with other interns and researchers.
- Present research findings and actively participate in community events.
- Available research opportunities vary across different fields and are offered year-round, mainly commencing in the summer.
