Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of technical engineering experience with programming in languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

- Proficiency in production deployment safety and engineering

Responsibilities
- Oversee the architecture of CPS and MASP services that facilitate Office client release and deployment
- Enhance the reliability, scalability, and availability of services utilized by M365 app teams
- Implement controlled release infrastructure using staged rollouts and automated safeguards
- Develop automation for rollback and remediation processes to reduce customer disruptions
- Establish telemetry pipelines for release gating, validation, and rollback
- Utilize data regarding usage, reliability, and performance to guide deployment decisions
- Create mechanisms for deployment observability across various environments
- Generate predictive signals for identifying potential regressions early
- Collaborate with Office Product teams for safe onboarding of changes via CPS/MASP
- Minimize customer issues by controlling deployment processes through service-based methods
- Increase reliability of Monthly Enterprise Channel delivery
- Set measurable deployment quality and recovery SLAs
- Lead and nurture a team focused on critical deployment services
- Mentor engineers in distributed systems design and production resiliency
- Foster collaboration across Office apps, engineering, and compliance teams
- Shape strategic engineering direction for RDX and the broader Office release framework

We are part of the Microsoft 365 Release & Delivery Experiences (RDX) team, tasked with ensuring the adoption and security of various applications like Word, Excel, and Teams for over a billion users globally. Our mission emphasizes safe updates and innovative administration capabilities powered by Azure-based microservices. We are currently looking for a Principal Engineering Manager to guide the architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of deployment services in support of our Customer Platform Services (CPS) and Microsoft Application Services Platform (MASP).
