Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4 years of technical engineering experience in coding languages such as Python, C#, Go, or Java
- Ability to satisfy Microsoft, customer, and government security clearance requirements
- Preferred: Masters Degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, coupled with 6+ years of engineering experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or 8+ years if holding only a Bachelors
- 6+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing scalable ML infrastructures and pipelines (e.g., Azure ML, Kubernetes)
- 6+ years of experience in building secure, reliable software systems, including knowledge of secure coding practices
- 6+ years of experience in developing distributed or cloud-based systems across platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
- 2+ years of experience with LLM orchestration frameworks, encompassing agent-based workflows and model evaluation
Responsibilities
- Design and enhance AI-focused security systems using advanced language models and other innovative technologies to tackle intricate security issues
- Create contextual knowledge systems that incorporate security graphs, semantic views, and memory frameworks for effective reasoning over security data
- Collaborate with Security Engineers, specialists, and Product Managers to establish all-encompassing, AI-enhanced security experiences
- Work alongside AI Infrastructure and Platform teams to convert security workflows into AI-optimized structures
- Facilitate automation and responsible autonomy to foster significant enhancements across our security solutions
- Implement, test, and deploy solutions in active environments while adhering to Microsofts standards for security and reliability
- Influence the technical direction of AI Security by shaping architecture, tools, and best engineering practices
- Lead initiatives that span various security products, platforms, and teams through collaboration
- Mentor engineers at different experience levels, nurturing inclusive technical discussions and promoting continuous improvement
- Contribute to a culture of learning and accountability within the broader engineering and security community

Our AI for Security (AI4S) Team within the Microsoft Threat Protection (MTP) Organization is leading the charge in utilizing advanced AI models, specialized security tools, and context systems to revolutionize how threats are detected, investigated, and eliminated globally. This role will allow you to engage in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment committed to achieving tangible security outcomes. We are looking for Principal Software Engineers to develop intelligent security systems that significantly minimize complexity for defenders and open up innovative workflows that were previously unattainable.
