Requirements
Must:
- Enrolled in a Masters or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Presence at the designated Microsoft worksite for the duration of the internship.
- Submission of at least two reference letters, a cover letter, and relevant work or research samples during application.
- Independent and collaborative work capabilities in a fast-paced research setting.
- Openness to learn techniques beyond your specific area of study.
- Strong programming abilities, including prototyping, implementation, and optimization.
- Familiarity with LLM pre-training, post-training, and inference (e.g., Megatron framework).
- Experience in world models, multimodality, and AI4Code.
- Exposure to Reinforcement Learning frameworks (e.g., VeRL, rLLM).
- A successful publication record in venues such as CVPR, ACL, ICML, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, or RSS.
Responsibilities

- Collaborate with fellow doctoral candidates and leading researchers worldwide.
- Advance personal career growth while contributing to impactful research initiatives.
- Work closely with mentors and fellow interns for a comprehensive learning experience.
- Present research findings and contribute to the research community throughout the internship.
- Conduct exploration on cutting-edge artificial intelligence methodologies to uncover new advancement opportunities.
- Utilize interdisciplinary knowledge across areas such as NLP, LLM, and computer vision to foster innovation.
- Create, prototype, and refine innovative methodologies to address fundamental challenges in artificial intelligence.
- Share research outcomes through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at significant conferences.
- Collaborate with fellow researchers within MSR and other entities to enhance the research agenda.
