Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Over 5 years of experience in embedded software development
- Proficient in C and C++ for embedded systems
- Strong grasp of object-oriented design principles
- Familiarity with version control systems (preferably Git)
- Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities
- Excellent documentation and organizational abilities
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
- Proficient with office productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft 365)
- Experience with Python or scripting for test automation (preferred)
- Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Modbus, GPIB, Ethernet) (preferred)
- Understanding of signal processing or control systems (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test embedded software for both new and existing products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, mechanical, test, and production) to deliver high-quality, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions
- Follow company quality standards and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and Agile practices
- Provide updates on project status, risks, and delays to the Director of Engineering
- Analyze product requirements and propose scalable and maintainable software architectures
- Estimate development efforts and resources for software tasks
- Mentor junior engineers and engage in code reviews and design discussions
- Stay updated on emerging technologies related to embedded systems and instrumentation
- Maintain and enhance existing legacy software systems
- Document software designs and changes, and manage version control using Git
- Interact with customers and internal stakeholders to gather feedback and resolve issues
- Track time and effort across various projects and tasks
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Engineering
