Requirements

Must:
- 5+ years of experience in full-stack or backend engineering - Proficiency in Node.js, Python, or Go - Familiarity with frameworks such as NestJS, Express, Django, or FastAPI - Strong expertise in Postgres or similar relational databases - Experience with large language models (LLMs) like OpenAI/Anthropic and embeddings - Knowledge of HubSpot API, Calendly API, and OAuth flows - Solid understanding of authentication and role-based access control (RBAC) - Background in building microservices and message queue systems - Prior experience developing systems that meet HIPAA or financial standards is preferred - Capability to manage a product from inception to completion

Responsibilities

- Take ownership of the backend architecture and infrastructure - Develop and maintain REST/GraphQL APIs - Integrate thoroughly with HubSpot, Calendly, LLM providers, LaPro, and Medicare APIs - Create secure microservices for scoring, sentiment analysis, notifications, and intake - Design and manage database schemas, ideally using Postgres - Implement authentication, encryption, and HIPAA-compliant best practices - Drive technical decisions regarding the platform - Collaborate with a front-end engineer to deliver complete features - Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code - Assist with DevOps tasks, deployment pipelines, and security monitoring

We're excited to share that MedicareSchool.com is developing a cutting-edge educational and customer experience platform aimed at assisting seniors in navigating Medicare. Our platform helps them compare plans, consult with licensed experts, manage their medications, access essential policy documents, and receive personalized guidance powered by AI. As the *technical owner* of our platform’s backend systems, you will be instrumental in designing its architecture, APIs, integrations, authentication, data models, and AI capabilities. We're seeking a top-tier engineer who thrives in crafting systems from the ground up, building efficiently, and addressing complex challenges with clean, scalable code. You will also formalize our newly established development department. In your role as the Full-Stack Lead, you will architect and implement essential systems, including authentication protocols, video content management, Medigap intake and underwriting, a medication hub, and more—all built independently from HubSpot data. We look for builders who flourish in greenfield development, uphold high architectural standards, are independent and proactive, solving problems efficiently.
