Requirements
Must:
- Masters degree in technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field is required plus eight years of progressive architectural leadership experience.
- A bachelors degree in technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field plus ten years of progressive architectural leadership experience may also be accepted.
- Senior-level architecture experience, including leading enterprise architecture functions and collaborating with C-level executives.
- Proven ability to convert strategic vision into operational architecture using frameworks, standards, and governance.
- Demonstrated success in fostering architectural transformation in complex, federated, or multi-location organizations.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), multi-cloud environments, microservices, data governance, APIs, DevOps, and containerization.
- Knowledge of regulatory and security frameworks (HIPAA, SOX, GDPR, HITRUST).
Responsibilities
- Create and implement an enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap that aligns with organizational strategy and technological priorities, defining standards, rules, and principles to meet operational and innovative needs.
- Lead governance activities for enterprise architecture in collaboration with the Technology Enablement Committee and other tech leaders.
- Ensure the application of architecture frameworks, cloud strategies, data management, microservices, APIs, DevOps, and containerization to support organizational goals.
- Define and maintain enterprise, domain, solution, and application architectures aligned with Mayos business and technology objectives.
- Establish and oversee the architecture review processes to ensure consistency, reuse, and alignment across technology initiatives.
- Develop and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and standards to facilitate faster solution delivery.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data governance, and regulatory requirements in all designs.
- Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to enact architectural direction effectively and consistently.
- Partner with peer Vice Chairs to ensure coherence between enterprise architecture and technology delivery.
- Engage closely with physicians, admins, business leaders, and stakeholders to ensure architectural decisions support clinical, research, and business goals.
- Build strong relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners to enhance Mayo Clinics architectural capabilities and innovation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Finance, HR, and administrative groups to execute architecture-related strategies, ensuring transparency and cross-functional cooperation.
- Deliver efficient enterprise architecture services and governance to promote high-quality technology outcomes.
- Monitor architecture maturity, value metrics, and performance indicators to encourage ongoing improvement and transparency.
- Partner with the CIO and financial leaders to ensure architectural standards drive cost-effective and sustainable operations.
- Advocate for technology simplification and modernization initiatives to improve performance and interoperability within Mayos tech ecosystem.
- Inspire and mentor architects and engineers to develop a top-tier architecture community.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning across architecture and delivery teams.
- Promote architectural excellence through mentoring programs and career development frameworks.
- Cultivate a customer-focused mindset, ensuring architecture delivers tangible value to the business, clinicians, and patients.
- Propel continuous advancements in architecture practices, governance protocols, and methodologies.
- Identify and integrate emerging technologies and trends that propel Mayos digital transformation.
- Lead efforts to streamline architectural processes, ensuring they are efficient and adaptable.
- Encourage innovation through proof-of-concept projects and cross-domain teamwork, utilizing Distinguished Architects for complex initiatives.
