Requirements
Must:
- Ph.D. in physics, mechanical engineering, or related field focusing on cryogenic systems or quantum technologies
- 7+ years of professional experience in product management or related technical roles within the hardware sector
- 3+ years of hands-on research and development experience in cryogenic systems, quantum computing, or similar deep tech fields
- Proven history of successfully scaling product organizations and delivering complex hardware products from concept to market in high-growth environments
- Experience leading product development in rapid-growth hardware startups characterized by quick iteration cycles and resource limitations
- Comprehensive understanding of cryogenic system design, performance characteristics, and application needs
- 10+ years of combined experience in R&D and product management related to quantum computing, cryogenics, or scientific instrumentation (preferred)
- Demonstrated success in scaling product teams and processes in fast-paced hardware startups, with Series A through IPO experience (preferred)
- Experience in managing swift product development cycles under tight timelines and changing market demands (preferred)
- Proven track record in building product management functions from scratch in rapidly growing organizations (preferred)
- Direct experience with dilution refrigerators, pulse tube systems, or related cryogenic technologies (preferred)
- Strong record of publications or patents in relevant technical fields (preferred)
- Experience overseeing product portfolios with intricate customer requirements and condensed development cycles in startup settings (preferred)
- MBA or equivalent business experience (preferred)
- Experience working with government, academic, and commercial research clients while navigating rapid organizational growth (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Define and implement an all-encompassing product strategy for cryogenic systems, aligning technical abilities with market potentials for optimal growth
- Lead cross-disciplinary collaboration among R&D, engineering, and commercial teams to ensure timely delivery of competitive products
- Conduct in-depth technical market assessments to understand customer needs, competitive positioning, and emerging technological trends
- Collaborate with R&D leadership to convert research advancements into commercially viable product roadmaps
- Work closely with engineering teams to set product specifications, performance objectives, and design criteria for cryogenic systems
- Engage directly with key clients and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and validate product concepts
- Drive go-to-market strategies that include technical positioning, competitive differentiation, and initiatives for customer education
- Oversee product lifecycle management from concept through commercialization and end-of-life planning
- Facilitate technical product discussions with customers, partners, and industry experts at conferences and technical forums
- Establish metrics for product performance and success criteria aligned with business goals
- Mentor and cultivate product management skills within the organization

We seek a technical leader with extensive domain expertise in cryogenic systems who can convert intricate scientific requirements into market-leading products. Our ideal candidate has a robust R&D background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively connect advanced research with commercial product development in a dynamic startup environment. Our base salary ranges from $120,000 to $220,000.
