Requirements
Must:
- A bachelors degree with 3 years of relevant professional experience, or a masters degree, or equivalent experience.
- Practical experience with SIEM, EDR, and cloud security tools.
- Proficient in triaging and addressing security alerts and incidents within a global enterprise.
- Scripting and automation skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for detection, hunting, or process enhancements.
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK framework and adversarial behavior models.
- Experience with threat intelligence platforms and the integration of CTI into security detection or response workflows.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills for effective collaboration across teams.
- (Preferred) Knowledge of detection-as-code, SOAR platforms, and automation processes in security operations.
- (Preferred) Experience supporting offices across different regions and time zones.
- (Preferred) A dedication to ongoing learning and professional growth in security operations and detection engineering.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, evaluate, and analyze security alerts and incidents from SIEM, EDR, and cloud platforms to identify, prioritize, and react to threats.
- Escalate, investigate, and coordinate response activities as necessary, working alongside global and regional teams.
- Assist regional offices by addressing security inquiries, conducting investigations, and offering customized security advice.
- Keep precise documentation of incidents, investigations, and actions taken in incident reports.
- Design, execute, and fine-tune detection rules, analytics, and pipelines for enhanced threat detection and diminished false positives.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of detection content, including ideation, development, testing, deployment, and retirement.
- Align detection strategies with adversarial frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK) and monitor coverage against evolving threats.
- Formulate and implement hunt hypotheses based on threat intelligence, telemetry, and changes in the environment.
- Share insights and outcomes from hunts to bolster overall detection and response capabilities.
- Collect, analyze, and operationalize relevant threat intelligence to address MathWorks threat landscape.
- Embed CTI into detection engineering and hunting processes to foresee and counteract adversary actions.
- Stay updated on new TTPs, vulnerabilities, and global threat activities.
