- Proven experience as a Senior Principal Engineer or similar role in enterprise data architecture, data engineering, or data platform strategy.
- Extensive knowledge in building and modernizing distributed data platforms utilizing technologies like Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, NiFi, and Cloudera/Hadoop.
- Practical experience with contemporary data platforms and tools including Databricks, Snowflake, Delta Lake, and Redshift.
- Skilled in designing and managing real-time and batch data pipelines in hybrid and cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with Data Mesh principles, federated governance, and the lifecycle management of data products.
- Experience in Agile environments, using modern delivery practices such as Scrum, SAFe, or product-centric models.
- Demonstrated success in steering large-scale data transformation and platform modernization projects in regulated sectors like Payments, Fintech, or Banking.
- Understanding of card data flows, merchant ecosystems, and frameworks like ISO 20022 and data localization regulations.
- Ability to influence technical and business decisions throughout all organizational levels, including C-suite stakeholders.
- Strong executive presence, capable of translating complex architectural concepts into accessible business language.
- Experience in mentoring and leading global, cross-functional high-performing technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field is required.

Responsibilities
- Guide the design and execution of our enterprise data architecture within a complex global ecosystem.
- Propel modernization from legacy and on-premises systems to contemporary cloud-native and hybrid data platforms.
- Design scalable and secure data solutions that align with evolving regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 20022, data localization, GDPR).
- Develop reusable, domain-oriented data models that foster consistency, interoperability, and self-service across business units.
- Establish and implement architectural patterns that facilitate both real-time and batch data processing across relational and non-relational systems.
- Advocate for the adoption of modern data principles, including Data Mesh, data products, and federated governance.
- Serve as a pivotal technical leader on the Data & Analytics Architecture Review Board to ensure program and domain alignment.
- Collaborate with our Architecture, Security, and Engineering teams to integrate data architecture into our enterprise-wide standards.
- Utilize Agile methodologies for data architecture initiatives to promote iterative delivery, rapid feedback, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Represent Data & Analytics in enterprise architecture councils, steering committees, and executive planning forums.
- Elevate technical excellence by mentoring engineers, architects, and technical experts across distributed systems, cloud platforms, and data modeling.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business, product, and engineering leaders, aligning technical strategy with enterprise objectives.
- Cultivate relationships and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, to influence data-driven strategies and decisions.
