Requirements
Must:
- 7 years of experience working with data and relevant computational frameworks and systems
- 7 years of experience in developing sophisticated software systems (pipelines/services/backends/frontends)
- 7 years of software development expertise using Python
- 7 years creating backend applications with API services
- 5 years of experience with AWS cloud services (EKS, EC2, Lambda, etc.)
- 5 years of proficiency with Terraform
- 7 years crafting complex SQL queries for relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- 5 years working with Agile methodologies
- 5 years of hands-on experience with Jenkins pipelines and/or GitHub Actions
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Product Managers, Enterprise Architecture, and other stakeholders to define data ingestion and processing strategies, cloud infrastructure design, and application development
- Act as a technical subject matter expert across various technologies, guiding architectural decisions and ensuring adherence to enterprise standards
- Provide technical leadership for multiple medium and large projects simultaneously, promoting engineering best practices and ensuring high-quality delivery
- Design and build reusable software libraries and components to streamline development and enhance organizational efficiency
- Lead the resolution of complex problems to deliver scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems
- Work closely with team members and business stakeholders to analyze, break down, and plan complex application features
- Actively participate in team activities such as standups, sprint planning, and demonstrations
- Implement infrastructure-as-code to enhance platform scalability and reliability
- Monitor and address software vulnerabilities within required service level agreements, contributing to overall enterprise security
- Document infrastructure, workflows, and operational procedures for transparency, auditability, and long-term sustainability

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Data Science Software Engineering team in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment within MassMutuals Research & Development organization. In this role, you will develop systems, infrastructure, pipelines, and applications to support Data Science and AI initiatives enterprise-wide. This is a full-time hybrid position with opportunities available in Springfield, MA, New York City, NY, and Boston, MA.
