Family & Shelter Advocate (Day Shift)

- Prior experience as a Shelter Advocate is preferred - Minimum of two years in a social services role or a combination of one year in social services and one year in customer service - Experience in a shelter environment or with individuals facing homelessness is highly desired - Enthusiasm for working with children and families is preferred - Strong skills in creative problem solving, conflict resolution, and crisis management - Understanding of trauma-informed care concepts - Ability to establish healthy boundaries and maintain professionalism under stress - Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and has a positive outlook - Compassionate and empathetic, adept at engaging with families from diverse backgrounds - Proficient in accessing and managing information using computers and Microsoft Suite, with accurate documentation skills - Excellent communication skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening - Strong organizational capabilities along with effective time management - Sensitivity to the challenges faced by clients who are low-income, limited English speakers, or affected by various personal hardships - Proficient in English, with preference for fluency in additional languages (e.g., Portuguese, Amharic, Spanish, etc.) - Prepared to take a TB test within the first 30 days of employment
