Requirements
Must:
- Over 7 years of practical experience in developing cloud-based data warehouses.
- At least 5 years of expertise in data modeling concepts using tools such as Erwin.
- A minimum of 4 years of direct experience in creating data products utilizing a canonical model.
- No less than 3 years of experience in developing data applications and products on AWS, Azure, and Snowflake.
- At least 3 years of experience in understanding and developing a semantic layer.
- Proficient in SQL performance optimization of data pipelines and reports.
- Strong capability to execute Proof of Technology demonstrations for leadership.
- Proven technical leadership with the ability to manage Service Provider resources.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Preferred: 3+ years of hands-on experience with Erwin.
- Preferred: Relevant technology certifications in Snowflake and any BI tools.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Airflow and Python.
- Preferred: Prior experience utilizing Agile software methodologies.
- Preferred: Demonstrated foresight in data platform opportunities.
- Preferred: Experience in technology leadership within a sourced environment.
- Preferred: AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority and lead engineer for the Data Platform team.
- Conduct research, analysis, design, and development of advanced data capabilities and products.
- Define and enforce technical standards for architecture related to data ingestion, transformation, modeling, and egress.
- Establish and maintain data governance guidelines and modeling standards to ensure data product consistency.
- Take technical ownership of deliverables from Service Providers, ensuring high-quality output according to technical standards and best practices.
- Explore emerging technologies to enhance future capabilities and solve complex technical challenges.
- Make informed decisions on intricate, non-routine requests supporting analytics-driven decision-making for Marriotts business teams.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members and foster effective collaboration across multiple teams during project execution.
- Analyze complex quantitative and qualitative data for service delivery improvements.
- Ensure all projects adhere to defined development and business case processes, coordinating closely with relevant IT and vendor management teams.
