Requirements
Must:
- Over 10 years in application development leadership
- At least 5 years of experience with distributed architecture frameworks and various Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) approaches, particularly agile methodologies
- Proficiency in technologies such as GraphQL, Node.js, Typescript, Java, NoSQL, Spring Boot, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud
- Experience in defining and implementing the enterprise GraphQL platform strategy and roadmap
- Proven track record in designing, building, and operating the GraphQL runtime and federation layer, including management of traffic and environment strategies
- Strong ownership of the GraphQL Platform vision, establishing long-term strategies and operational models
- Expertise in embedding security, compliance, and cost management into platform designs
- Background in enhancing reliability, performance, observability, and real-time analytics for platforms
- In-depth knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, logging, metrics, service mesh, and monitoring
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud-native solutions, microservices architecture, and API orchestration
- Over 5 years of leading innovative solutions for both business and consumer-facing contexts
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
- Experience in designing and implementing cloud-native solutions
- Deep understanding of API platforms and full stack infrastructure
- Bachelors degree or equivalent education
- Preferred: Experience in developing GraphQL APIs with Apollo and REST
- Preferred: Familiarity with microservices development patterns
- Preferred: Success in leading medium to large-scale initiatives
- Preferred: Active contributions to open-source projects
- Preferred: Relevant technology certifications
- Preferred: Proven management experience in strategic planning across business units
- Preferred: Knowledge of global IT outsourcing in managed services
- Preferred: Success in transforming legacy applications into modern technologies
- Preferred: Proven ability to implement DevOps best practices
- Preferred: Experience with automation testing and performance engineering
- Preferred: Experience working in a product-based model with strong partnerships with product owners
- Preferred: Management of complex budgets exceeding $5M
Responsibilities
- Lead application development initiatives to drive key technology strategies
- Build and enhance Marriotts platform to align with business objectives
- Manage application development teams and promote innovation and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with technology leaders and business partners to encourage agile practices
- Oversee continuous improvement efforts in project management and software engineering
- Monitor project compliance with defined application development processes
- Provide guidance on service delivery across client groups and enforce standardized tools
- Manage relationships with IT teams to ensure service delivery effectiveness
- Conduct project reviews and facilitate effective reporting within the team
- Troubleshoot escalated service delivery issues and ensure prompt resolutions
- Contribute to application maintenance and management of service standards
- Drive adoption of metrics for continuous improvement and client satisfaction
