Requirements
Must:
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, showcasing strong full stack development capabilities.
- Extensive background in building and maintaining modern web applications utilizing technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
- Proficient in SQL with hands-on experience in PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query optimization.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs for data-driven applications.
- Proven track record of collaborating across multiple teams and codebases, influencing outcomes without direct authority.
- Solid engineering fundamentals including code quality, system design, and maintainability.
- Experience building or contributing to internal platforms or tools for developers.
Responsibilities
- Identify web performance regressions, trends, and anomalies proactively using data from observability and monitoring platforms.
- Examine performance data across releases, pages, and user cohorts to provide actionable insights to engineering teams.
- Collaborate with teams to establish and refine performance budgets, thresholds, and guardrails to avert regressions.
- Design and implement automated alerts, reports, and regression detection mechanisms to expedite issue diagnosis and investigation.
- Educate teams on performance trade-offs and integrate performance considerations into routine engineering decisions.
- Contribute to the advancement of performance standards and best practices alongside platform and product partners.
- Assist in the design and development of internal performance reporting tools built with Next.js and PostgreSQL.
- Create APIs and data access models that facilitate efficient access to performance metrics and historical data.
- Conduct data modeling and optimize queries in PostgreSQL to support scalable historical trend analysis and comparisons.
- Develop and enhance frontend data visualizations and user experiences that render performance data intuitive and actionable.
- Treat internal tools as products by participating in roadmaps, usability enhancements, and ensuring long-term technical viability.
- Support various use cases including pre- and post-release comparisons, page-level analysis, and cohort-based performance views.
- Work in close partnership with product engineering teams to embed performance considerations into feature development and delivery.
- Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, and analytics teams as necessary to comprehend system behavior and data origins.
- Influence engineering teams without direct ownership by providing guidance, tools, and clear technical recommendations.
- Assist teams in understanding performance reasoning, diagnosing issues, and assessing the impact of changes.
- Clearly communicate technical findings to diverse audiences, including engineers, product partners, and leadership as appropriate.
