Requirements
Must:
- Familiarity with distributed systems, control software, or autonomy frameworks
- Experience in developing software test plans, test cases, and defect tracking systems
- Capability to describe software functionalities in operational terms
- Proficient in interpreting logs, telemetry, and system health metrics
- Background in supporting software in critical mission settings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to travel both nationally and internationally
- Competence to work autonomously with limited direction while contributing to team operations
- Patience, objectivity, and professionalism in foreign or challenging environments
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Equivalent military or industry experience in operational software environments is acceptable
- Operational experience with unmanned or maritime systems is strongly preferred
- Class A CDL license is preferred
- Valid U.S. passport and drivers license are required
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening is essential
- CDL license and carbon fiber fabrication/repair knowledge are advantageous
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement software test plans in collaboration with MARTAC Software leadership
- Conduct structured software testing in development, staging, and operational settings
- Validate software performance across various operational roles including helm, ROC, and MCC
- Identify, document, and report software defects, anomalies, and performance concerns
- Assist with regression testing and the rollout of new capabilities
- Operate MARTAC USV platforms for testing, training, demonstrations, and operational tasks
- Act as an embedded software-aware operator during deployments and exercises
- Facilitate operator training regarding new or updated software features
- Transform operational observations into meaningful software feedback
- Keep precise test logs, records, and documentation
- Adhere to all company, OSHA, and client safety protocols
- Represent MARTAC professionally in customer-facing situations
- Deploy as part of small operational teams (2–3 personnel) to support extended operations
- Provide on-site technical assistance during deployments, trials, and demonstrations, acting as an informed extension of the Software team
- Carry out testing, calibration, and validation tasks during new system integration, upgrades, and repairs
- Ensure vessels and related equipment are well-maintained, safeguarded, and ready for operations at all times
- Aid in the creation of safety, operating, and procedural documentation as necessary
- Maintain a tidy and orderly work environment at both headquarters and deployed sites
