Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a similar field.
- 3-5 years of practical experience in mechanical testing within a lab or vehicle development setting.
- Proficiency in handling Instron or equivalent Universal Testing Machines.
- Familiarity with ASTM and ISO mechanical testing standards.
- Experience using CAD software, particularly CATIA, for crafting custom fixtures.
Responsibilities
- Operate Instron Universal Testing Machines (UTMs) for various mechanical tests including tensile, compression, shear, bend, peel, and fatigue.
- Set up and execute ASTM and ISO standard tests, ensuring adherence to industry requirements.
- Design and create custom test fixtures and setups to meet specific testing needs.
- Prepare test specimens utilizing basic fabrication tools, including cutting, polishing, and torqueing.
- Document fracture surfaces and tested components using optical microscopes, capturing high-quality images for failure analysis.
