Location: Based near Grand Rapids, MI | Full-Time | Regional Travel (Midwest)
Pay: $28–$32/hr + 1.5X OT + Paid Travel Time (ST) | $90K+ Total Comp
We are a leading OEM of custom industrial automation systems looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our technical service and repair team. This position offers paid travel and high autonomy, supporting machine installations, commissioning, and field repairs for our clients primarily across the Midwest and surrounding areas.
As part of our team, you will work on advanced systems utilized in aerospace, defense, and high-spec manufacturing. Your duties will include leading on-site diagnostics, conducting machine alignments, providing customer training, and managing turnkey installations.

- An Associate degree or equivalent experience in a technical or mechanical/electrical field
- 2-5+ years of hands-on experience in field service, automation, or custom machinery
- A willingness to travel weekly throughout the Midwest region
- Capability to read schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and follow troubleshooting workflows

- Travel to customer locations across the Midwest (primarily weekday trips)
- Inspect and troubleshoot pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Align components such as robots, tables, and fixtures using laser alignment tools
- Run system cycles and verify that machines meet performance specifications
- Train customer operators on machine usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Supervise riggers and contractors during machine installations
- Provide ongoing remote support, including after-hours coverage (rotating) and phone-based assistance
- Maintain detailed reports and records for each customer visit
